WHO: LGBTQ+ Adults (18+) experiencing shame, anxiety, depression, isolation,

grief, or simply feeling “frozen” or “stuck”

As LGBTQ+ identified persons growing up in a heteronormative world, many in the queer community experience repeated negative messaging from an early age. Over time, recurring exposure to social stigma can teach individuals to hide, ignore, and in many cases internalize shame for who they are.

Psychodrama is an experiential therapy that integrates simple movements, guided role-play, CBT principals, skill building, and, creative expression. It is effective because it renegotiates trauma and stress while providing a sense of safety, control, creativity, fun, and empowerment in the process.

Experiential therapy has been proven to:

  • Reduce symptoms of guilt and shame

  • Increase connectedness

  • Strengthen interpersonal relationships

  • Improve confidence and self-esteem

  • Build self-awareness and encourage mindfulness

  • Create queer social support

In this group we use a wide range of expressive activities to bring common LGBTQ+ themes, feelings, and thoughts forward to be explored together. The process of safe communication, sharing, and collective awareness creates a supportive environment for building community and healing from internal judgement and shame.
